Nope, not going to do it. Even if it's a hate click, I'm not going to that site because if I do, they still win.

First off, I'm pretty sure that anyone commenting on that has never been in Santa Ana. Secondly, Santa Ana isn't as scary as it used to be, thanks to the artists revival of the area. Third, that guy was a fucking idiot, people would rather video a spectacle than intervene, but what is really sad is that the OC Superior Court is about 4 or 5 blocks away and so is OCJ. Basically it really sucks girl died but given the area it really isn't surprising to be completely honest. And no I'm not surprised no one did anything to stop it because of the area as well.

But how many people need to be filming? Do you need 4-5 videos of her being kicked to death, or do you need 3-4 videos of the girl getting picked up by the one person who put away their phone?

We need one video of 2-3 people disarming the conflict, then, then 4-5 videos of the girls making out?

From what I've read about that tragic incident, I think it's unrealistic to have expected anyone to instantly leap in to intervene. Even leaving aside the bystander effect, a fight outside a bar between two unarmed adults of the same gender is not a situation that obviously demands intervention. Bar fights just aren't usually that serious unless a knife or gun are involved.

According to the article linked from the Gawker post, this was basically, pardon the sexist term, a catfight between two women who were on the ground pulling each other's hair, when a third woman came up and kicked the victim in the head, which is what killed her. It's being described as a "brutal beating," which implies sustained lethal violence, but I think it's more accurate to call it a bar brawl that went terribly wrong.

Based on what's been reported, up to the moment of the kick, the people filming the fight probably just saw it as a run of the mill drunken girl-on-girl squabble that would be cool to post on YouTube. It's obviously a horrible thing, and the person who took it upon herself to get involved and ended up killing an innocent person deserves to be prosecuted to the hilt. But there's no reason to condemn the bystanders for not intervening in a situation that showed no sign of being life-threatening up to the point where it abruptly was.

"Did you finally go the full Coors Light on that bitch?"

"YOU'RE GODDAMN RIGHT I DID!" Lol

Sad story (violence sucks), but also a sad comment exchange.

I don't think they recognized the movie quote.

Sad.
